Bungie has officially released a brand-new trailer and gameplay showcase for Marathon, giving players a deeper look at the studio’s upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter. Alongside the reveal, Bungie confirmed that the game will feature a free open beta server slam ahead of launch.

The server slam will run from February 26 to March 2, allowing players to experience the game early while helping Bungie test servers, matchmaking, and core gameplay systems.

New Marathon Gameplay Details

The newly released footage highlights Marathon’s fast-paced gunplay, tactical team-based combat, and high-stakes extraction mechanics. Players assume the role of Runners—cybernetic mercenaries dropped into hostile zones to gather loot, complete objectives, and escape before rival players or environmental threats take them out.

Marathon Free Open Beta Server Slam

The upcoming server slam acts as a free-to-play open beta, giving players unrestricted access during the test period. This phase is designed to stress-test infrastructure and gather community feedback before launch.

Bungie has not yet confirmed whether player progress from the beta will carry over to the full release.
